Wilderness Outposts Origins

Our Story

Nestled in the small town of Natoma, North West Kansas, Wilderness Outposts has its roots deeply embedded in family and tradition. Our journey began in 1995, when Jay Lindquist, Kevin McConnell’s grandson returned from Lawrence, KS, to build a hunting cabin with his best friend and farmhand, Gene Theilman. With the help of their children, they constructed a beautiful retreat, set in one of the world’s premier locations for white-tail deer hunting.

Fast forward 27 years, and Kevin McConnell, the grandson, has taken up the mantle of caretaker. With a passion for preserving the cabin’s legacy and a vision for the future, Kevin renovated the cabin into a charming hunting cabin Airbnb, ready to welcome new guests.
